We always hear the million dollar question: “When is the best time to fish at Noontootla Creek Farms?”… The answer? Anytime you can. Every season has it’s pros and cons, but it’s all about what kind of experience you are looking for!
Fishing in the summer can be a little bit tricky, but so fun! You can expect HUGE dry fly eats, fish are looking up for big terrestrial insects like grasshoppers, beetles, ants, crickets, caddiesflies, and so much more. The fish will sneak up out of nowhere and slam the fly, and then it’s game on!
Now the technical part is the water is warmer than usual, and very low and clear. This calls for heavier tippet, faster fighting, keeping fish wet, and a quick release. The low & clear water means you have to be extra sneaky and technical with how you maneuver the water and cast your flies.
Don’t let this scare you, the big slam of a giant brown in the dead of summer makes it all worth it, and makes the game even more fun.
